FOUR of Barbados’ top shooters will be competing at the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) World Shoot in Chateauroux, France.

The event, which is set for August, is the highest level handgun event within (IPSC), consisting of several days of competition and at least 30 separate courses of fire.

Regional director Kevin Grant and members of the Barbados IPSC executive said they believed it was a great achievement for Barbados as IPSC International has never before granted Barbados slots for four persons to participate at such an event.

Local competitors are still in the qualifying stages of this event; however, team selection will be based on five matches where the top two persons with the highest accumulated points from both the Standard division and the Production division will be selected.

Currently leading the pack in the Production division is Adrian Marshall, followed by Rodney Clarke and Ryan Best.

In the Standard division qualifier for the 2014 World Shoot competition, Sean Banfield placed 138th out of 348 shooters worldwide. He is leading with the best qualifying scores, followed by Richard Durant and Gerard Gill.

At month end, the Barbados team will be travelling to compete in the Suriname Amazon shoot. (RG)
