BARBADOS IS THE first recipient country to move on to the second phase of the Caribbean Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) project.

The model was adapted from the United States and the aim is to use it for greater efficiencies among the small and medium enterprises in the country.

Coordinator for the network Anderson Cumberbatch said they are hoping that the model will eliminate the duplications that currently exist in the sector, by allowing them to work within a network.

They will also be working with several agencies impacting on the sector, which includes the ministries of agriculture and tourism.

Cumberbatch spoke about the project at the opening of a one-week sensitisation workshop for some of the stakeholders at Accra Beach this morning. (YB)
