NORMALISATION AND PROMOTION of the rape culture and trivialisation of sexual assault, with excuses being found for perpetrators and predators, are troubling issues still facing women.
Making the assertion on International Women’s Day yesterday, businesswoman Ebonie Rowe called on women to rise up and bring about change in their own lives.
“Start with what you have control over in your immediate environment,” she advised a diverse group of women representing the public and private sectors and a wide range of professions, at an International Women’s Day luncheon hosted by United States Ambassador Linda Taglialatela and her deputy Laura Griesmer.
“It starts with you; with self-love; with self-esteem; with believing you are deserving and worthy . . . . It has to do with the value women place on themselves and who they allow to determine what their worth is.” (GC)
