THE GARRISON SAVANNAH, home to many a prestigious event over many years, is expected to be transformed into a sea of colour when the 36th running of the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup features today at 4:55.
The Garrison, a heritage site, is normally adorned with blue, yellow and black, but red could be the dominant colour when the horses dash for home seeking the glittering cup, and purse of $249 500.
Keystoneforvictory, High Noon Rider and Dorsett, all clad in some form of red silks, are picked to lead the hunting pack of Trinidadian duo of Conquest Bespoke and Trini Navigator. A large crowd is expected to view this spectacle and, whatever the result, race fans will delight in a finish that yours truly expects to be close.
