ONE OF THE the most interesting contenders in this year’s Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup is the seven-year-old bay mare Nekitta.
Her recent form has been exemplary, having won four of her last seven and finished second twice. She is carrying the most lethal form of all the local winners.
Owned by Lewin Gooding, she can go on to become the fourth creole to win this coveted prize and the first mare since Asian Jane in 1995.
Nekitta has career returns of 11 wins from 29 starts, and commands all respect with her most recent demolition job on the top-class horses. (LY)
