ROMARIO “GRASS MAN” ANTOINE now has him name etched on the Joseph Payne Memorial Classic shield as the Most Outstanding Field Athlete for 2017.

The double record breaker at the recently concluded Louis Lynch Championships was recognised in a small ceremony held Monday evening in the showroom at McEnearney Quality Inc. in Wildey.

Antoine set a new record of 15.50 metres in the shot put, breaking Charles Walcott’s 2005 record of 14.17 metres, and also broke Andre Jones’ 2010 men’s discus record of 43.94 metres by hurling the disc 50.35 metres.

A man of few words, Antoine said he only wanted to be great. (RA)
