ONE OF THE MAIN Government entities looking after art, craft and culture in Bridgetown could soon be under private sector management.
However, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Small Business Development Donville Inniss has stressed the development should not be seen as an attack on the local craft industry.
He was speaking to the DAILY NATION in the wake of an advertisement in both print newspapers yesterday asking for expressions of interest for the management of Pelican Craft Centre. The deadline is the end of next month.
Pelican Craft Centre, located on the Princess Alice Highway near the entrance to the Barbados Port Authority, comprises 25 retail shops, 14 workshops, a wine bar and bistro, restaurant and an annex with an art gallery, all on 262 945 square feet of space. (HLE)
