THE ENGLISH cricketers are in the Caribbean and have signalled that they plan to take it to West Indies in the upcoming three-match One-Day International series.

In an impressive display yesterday, the tourists brushed aside a University of the West Indies Vice Chancellor’s XI by 117 runs at Warner Park in St Kitts in a match in which former West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul was honoured.

England piled up 379 for eight from their 50 overs with major contributions from captain Eoin Morgan (95), Jason Roy (79), Joe Root (71) and Ben Stokes (61).

Opener Chadwick Walton made 121 in the Vice Chancellor’s XI response, but they could only manage 262 in 39.5 overs.

West Indies and England will begin their series with the first match on Friday at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua. (HG)
