THE MAN WHO ACCUSED former Central Bank Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell of sidelining him for more than two years has been named Acting Governor following Worrell’s dismissal yesterday.

Within 24 hours of the embattled governor’s firing by Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler, the ministry announced that Deputy Governor Cleviston Haynes would be acting Central Bank Governor. His appointment took effect yesterday.

The news came as the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs confirmed that Worrell had been relieved of his duties as governor.

“This is consequent upon the determination of his instrument of appointment by Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Christopher Sinckler,” the statement noted.

Haynes’ appointment came after a specially convened meeting of the bank’s board of directors.
