Another hiccup plagues Portvale

IT HAS NOT been a smooth start to the 2017 sugar crop season for Portvale Sugar Factory.

On Thursday, Barbados Sugar Industry Limited (BSIL) chairman Patrick Bethell reported that issues with the factory’s boilers had caused it to cease production since Monday.

At the time, he said he hoped the problems could be resolved quickly and believed production would resume later that day.

That did happen but factory manager Raphael O’Neal said production once again hit a snag in the wee hours of yesterday morning. (AD)
