THE STADIUM’S safety concerns aren’t being overlooked.
Barbados Secondary Schools’ Athletic Championship (BSSAC) organising committee is anticipating an incident-free meet, having taken serious security measures to protect athletes and patrons from falling debris at the National Stadium.
Assistant meet director Andrew Brathwaite gave the assurance while disclosing the new safety measures during yesterday’s BSSAC launch at The St Michael School.
“There would have been reports of falling debris from the stand, so a perimeter fence will be in place and no patrons will move anywhere in the vicinity of the stands. There is a strict policy with regard to the movement of persons, so the only area where you’re supposed to walk is under that canopy into and out of that Stadium,” Brathwaite explained. (JM)
