CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER of the Barbados Agricultural Society James Paul has again chastised members of the private sector for continuing to import products which he said this country can adequately supply.
The CEO was speaking during a press conference on Monday at the BAS’ Beckles Road, St Michael office, where he said that there was no reason for businesses to import coconut water or eggs.
“This country is 100 per cent self-efficient in the production of eggs and we have farmers, large and small who actually produce eggs and they sell them to the local markets.
“Why is it then that we have these corporations that come into this country… who will still seek to try bring in eggs to this country when at the same we have shown that the local market can meet the demand for eggs,” he said. (TG)
