Yellow fever hits Springer

STINGING BEES (Yellow House) buzzed around the track at the National Stadium and stung their opponents on the way to victory at the Springer Memorial inter-house sports yesterday.

They decided to “up de thing”, and reclaim the title they gave away to the Fighting Phoenixes (Red House) last year by one and a half points.

Capturing almost every title this year, they finished with 573 points, ahead of second-placed Blue Blazers, 529, showing they still had the sting in them. Defending champions Red House had to settle for third place with 397.5 points, while the Purple Titans followed closely with 387.5; and the Green Machines ended the day with 331 points.

At the beginning of the relays, the Stinging Bees were in the lead with 511, and the rest of the houses were a far distance behind, with little hope of surpassing the champs. At the end, however, the only switch was between Purple and Red who swapped for their final places of fourth and third respectively. (RA)
