THERE IS ALWAYS lots to laugh at during Laff-it-Off, and this year’s production is no different.
But while the skits and antics of the supertalented cast evoked much laughter in the production themed We Like It So, the underlying messages offered a dose of reality audience to the specially invited guests and the media at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Sunday night.
Always a great stress reliever, the cast comprising Peta Alleyne, Toni-Ann Johnson, Ishiaka McNeil, Janine White and new member Angelo Lascelles tackled several topical issues such as potholes, water woes, garbage collection, schoolchildren behaving badly, a popular radio call-in programme, immigration, relationships, sex, crime, the parliamentarians’ repayment of their salary cut, one Cabinet minister’s videos and mouthings, another one who can’t dance, and a “fiah”.
There was also a visit from the American president who said he would be building a wall and a 166-square mile golf course in Barbados. This had some people in the audience in stitches, with tears running down their faces and doubling over. (GBM)
