Champs look to open account

THE SEASON HASN’T started well for Digicel Premier League champions UWI Blackbirds and the bad news is that it can get worse as they face off against Weymouth Wales tonight at the National Stadium.

The champions have been far from convincing in their two matches to date. They drew against unpredictable Brittons Hill in the first and were beaten 3-2 by leaders Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) in the second.

Just a single point from two games means that they can hardly afford to lose again and even a draw would leave them well off the pace in defence of their crown.

So the Wales match, starting at 8 p.m., finds the champs between a rock and a hard place. (PR)
