PARAGUAY won’t feel foreign to Barbados next week.
The country’s Davis Cup squad is practising on clay at home, having been afforded the luxury of preparing for the opening round Group II tie by playing on Royal Westmoreland’s relatively new clay courts.
It’s the first time in more than a decade that Barbados has had clay courts to practise on since the 2001 team used them at Westmoreland right before they were replaced with a carpet surface.
“It’s fantastic to have these clay courts here in Barbados to play on so we’re happy that Westmoreland has given us this opportunity to be here and use their courts,” said Davis Cup vice-captain Christopher King. (JM)
