Punishing ‘Pa’ an allround winner on court

DEIGHTON “PA” ROACH came up trumps twice in the AOne Supermarkets Lance Bynoe Road Tennis Tournament on Monday night.

The oldstager came from behind to win his singles match and teamed up with Anthony “Baku” Simmons to win a doubles contest at the Rubis Sports Club, Brighton.

On a night when four singles matches went into the third set, Roach lost the first set against Ricky “Body Doc” Hoyte but fought back to prevail 19-21, 21-18, 23-21 in an exciting affair.

When Roach teamed up with Simmons, the finish wasn’t as thrilling as the pair defeated Nigel Harper and Winslow “Coach” Birkett 21-15. (HG)
