ANYTHING IS BETTER than the long wait for buses.
That was the consensus of some frustrated commuters – who usually wait upwards of two and a half hours for a bus in both the Fairchild Street and Princess Alice terminals – to the proposal by Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley that more private vehicles be integrated with the Transport Board fleet.
A DAILY NATION team visited both terminals after noon on Saturday and there were no long lines at either.
At Princess Alice, three buses came into the gates within minutes of the team’s arrival. There were four buses and a minibus bound for Sturges and Jackson at gates ready for boarding, and the District D bus, albeit late, made its appearance shortly after. (YB)
