Prime Minister Freundel Stuart’s welcomed repeat visitors to the island to the splendour of Ilaro Court, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Barbados last week, and they basked in Stuart’s hospitality.

The guests, some of whom have paid more than 50 visits to Barbados, were invited to the first such reception for repeat visitors in the current winter tourist season and they were visibly delighted at the opportunity to mingle with locals and wander through the tastefully appointed residence.

They also got to meet key players in the local tourism industry such as Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy, chief executive officer of the Barbados Tourism Product Authority, Dr Kerry Hall, Government ministers and students from the Bay Primary and Ellerslie Secondary Schools. Cricket legend Sir Wes Hall, father of Dr Kerry Hall, was surrounded by British guests.

Brits Lorraine Thorley and her husband Richard, who were on their 73rd visit, told Social Scene: “We just adore this island.”  After hearing the Bay Primary students sing, they were even more consumed by the love affair with the place they now call their second home. Accompanied by maestro Gabby on guitar, the children delivered lusty renditions of the 50th Anniversary Song and Barbadian folk songs. (GC)
