WITHIN THE NEXT three years, Barbadian children will have access to six new nursery schools, thanks to the Maria Holder Memorial Trust.

And yesterday morning the second school in the Maria Holder Memorial Trust Six Nursery Schools Project was officially opened, bringing the current number of public nursery schools on the island to 11.

The state-of-the-art, colourful facility at Gall Hill, Christ Church, will accommodate up to 150 children between the ages of three and four, and has a staff of ten teachers.

A third facility at Oldbury, St Philip, which will cater to 90 children, is expected to be opened at the end of the month.

Later this year, construction of two more schools at Government Hill, St Michael, and Holders Hill, St James, is expected to commence, while work on the final two schools at Sayes Court, Christ Church, and Deacons, St Michael, is set to begin in 2018 and completed in 2020. (RB)
