THE LITTLE ONES of the Nightengale Children’s Home ushered in 2017 with a celebration and party thanks to the generosity of Kids Care Centre and Barbadians.
On Saturday, Talitha Forde, director of Kids Care Centre, held a New Year’s Eve party for 68 children that included a countdown to the New Year, albeit six hours early.
Forde said she came up with the idea for the party when her son’s grandmother gave her a box of New Year’s Eve blowers, hats and party stuff with the declaration that since she was always around children, “you will find something to do with them”.
She decided to have a party for children who were unable to join in the New Year’s Eve celebrations on the outside. She was joined in the effort by corporate Barbados and ordinary Barbadians. She said thanks to Starcom Network airing it, several people made donations. (LK)
