CHRYSTAL CUMMINS-BECKLES has won a third regional calypso title.
Early this morning, the Barbadian calypsonian retained her crown in the Queen of Queens Regional Female Calypso Monarch competition held at Festival Village in Montserrat last night.
Based on the commentary of the competition which was streamed live, it was evident Cummins-Beckles was the one to beat.
Just last week, she told THE NATION she was quietly confident about her chances.
But that didn’t stop the celebrated musician from pulling out the stops and putting down what would be two winning and historic performances.
She sang the self-penned Wake Me Up, and Unity, which was co-written by Anthony Gabby Carter.
Other contestants were: Queen Thalia- Antigua; Roxxy- Anguilla; Queen Kibi- St Kitts and Nevis; Menell- St Lucia; Shaunelle McKenzie- St Vincent and the Grenadines; Shakiya- St Marteen, Caribbean Queen- US Virgin Islands and Khandie from Montserrat.
