THIS CHRISTMAS season was described as “ridiculous” for the number of cases seen at the Accident & Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
A source told the MIDWEEK NATION the physicians at the department were kept busy over the long holiday weekend, responding to injuries as a result of vehicular and household accidents and fights.
“There are a lot of people getting drunk and doing unsafe and foolish things. Usually it’s pretty quiet there around Christmas but this time there were reports of fights and accidents – I heard there was even a case of someone falling off a roof. It was pretty ridiculous,” the source said.
The source speculated the problem was due to many of the other medical facilities, such as polyclinics and offices of private doctors, being closed. (CA)
