Christmas pampering

WHILE SOME SHOPPERS made their way through the hot sun and packed stores in the traditional last minute hustle and bustle others opted for a Christmas Eve pampering.

Andrea Franklyn, owner of Diva The Salon in Bridge House, The City, said she witnessed a hike in the number of hair and nail appointments just before Christmas Day.

As customers walked in and out of the cool air conditioning in the downtown salon, Franklyn ensured they were well set with wine and cheesecake treats.

“Well obviously she can’t get any,” said the owner of the 13-year-old company, pointing to eight-year-old Azana Cumberbatch of St Gabriel’s School. “But we have soft drinks for the little ones, even if served in a glass,” she said chuckling.

“For me who is customer-oriented, I like them to feel comfortable. At Christmas they can get whatever they feel. I always tell my staff that customers are to be treated like [royalty],” Franklyn said.

Customer Shakeila Baptiste soaked up the pampering.

“I absolutely love wine. Girl, I felt so fancy with my blonde hair. I was just missing my red lipstick, that’s all. I really felt like a celebrity.” (MR)
