THE MANAGEMENT at Lionel C. Hill Supermarket is moving to stamp out theft there.

In a post on their facebook page, owners stated their intention to start a “facebook database of thieves”.

They will invite other supermarkets to share surveillance video of people who steal from their businesses.

This was prompted by an incident which occurred in the Roebuck Street, St Michael, store around 10:25 a.m. today.

The video, which has also been posted on the page, shows two young men walking the aisle. The first goes to the shelves where the liquor is being displayed and takes down a bottle.

The second saunters in wearing a backpack. He turns and the first man puts the bottle in the bag. They do this three times and also take another item off the shelves before stashing that and walking off.

Management at the store, which has been a fixture in The City for decades, says the security guard went to use the bathroom and the pair was in and out in 20 seconds.

The two had reportedly been “walking up and down Roebuck Street for hours”.

A reward is being offered.
