Jones rebuts IDB’s pass rate figure

NO REASON TO PANIC.

Minister of Education Ronald Jones is giving that assurance two months after an Inter-American Development Bank official said that just 6.1 per cent of students attained four passes in their first sitting of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate exam.

The minister said Ministry of Education statistics painted a different picture.

And he blasted some Barbadians in the most unfavourable terms for their reaction.

Calling some “half a idiot” and “igrant” for their response, the minister said during the speech day and prize-giving ceremony of the Ellerslie Secondary School Wednesday that he could not understand why the country went into such a frenzy. (WILLCOMM)
