BCC students pleased with protest

STUDENTS AT THE Barbados Community College (BCC)have hailed their recent protest against study conditions as a success.

On December 1, Fine Arts students launched a demonstration inside BCC and around the college’s compound shouting “no more rats! no more rats!”

It was their way of drawing attention to what they regarded as the rat-infested conditions.

They said they had had enough of putting up with the inhumane conditions no one else on campus was asked to endure.

In a press release issued on Wednesday the Student Guild expressed satisfaction at the measures taken since to eradicate rodents.

“The administration of the college has made progressive steps to correct the environmental problems which have plagued the students of Fine Arts Division for an extended period of time,” the realease said.

“The implementation of garbage receptacles with lids and the area where the rodents would have used to enter was debushed and air-conditioning units were fixed and replaced; health inspectors were on site and their report is pending.” (SB)
