THE WEATHER wasn’t going to rain on their parade. Not this time at least.
It took a while in coming, but Bayley’s finally copped that fourth title, having overcome two abandoned rain days and a further two rain delays yesterday before eventually beating West Terrace by 81 runs in the final of the Guardian Group Herman Griffith Cricket Competition.
Playing at the Empire ground in front of West Indies fast bowling legend Sir Wes Hall, Bayley’s turned in a truly remarkable team performance, taking advantage of a sloppy West Terrace to post 165 for six before knocking them over for just 84.
It was an extremely disciplined effort from the St Philip boys, who were forced to refocus after the two previous attempts at the final were washed out last week. (JM)
