MINISTER OF SPORT Stephen Lashley has hailed the Barbados Olympic Association’s (BOA) 50th Anniversary Independence Games.
Speaking at the closing ceremony on Sunday evening, Lashley told those gathered at the BOA headquarters that the Games were in fact a complete success, and he was throwing his full support behind the next edition in 2017.
“From the very onset I thought that these games should be supported by the Ministry of Sport and by the Government of Barbados, particularly because they were in a position to provide an outlet for our sporting fraternity in the various aspects of sporting endeavour.
“To do that at a very important juncture in Barbados at our 50th Independence anniversary provided an avenue for the spotlight to fall on sports. . . ” he said. (RA)
