THE SLUICE GATE at Worthing Beach in Christ Church needs to be repaired or replaced as a matter of urgency.
That’s the view of an independent environmentalist, who believes the rusted gate could lead to environmental issues if not corrected in short time.
Future Centre Trust’s programme coordinator, Tracey Edwards, visited the popular tourist area on a request from the SUNDAY SUN in an attempt to determine if recent heavy rainfall could have led to environmental issues that would put beachgoers and bathers at risk.
She reported that an inspection of the dark-brown water blocked in by the sluice gate indicated the water was still moving and not stagnant.
