IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK a lot like Christmas for fans of 2 Mile Hill as the band headlines a special Christmas edition of Mahalia’s Corner at The Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Sunday, featuring a crowd favourite from the last corner, Ch’An, with GP Horns.
The special staging follows on the heels of a successful season of the popular open mic showcase which concluded in October to packed audiences, with the likes of Joaquin, Buggy Nhakente, Marvay, Iron Pipe, Lil Rick and Red Plastic Bag as featured performers.
2 Mile Hill frontwoman Mahalia, who conceptualised the corner, said it was all about the music and she looked forward to this time of year when they can showcase a local interpretation of Christmas music.
“Our Christmas special last year with Jaicko and Kristen Walker was magic,” Mahalia said. “Ch’An has amazing vocal talent so we expect quite a show this year too. To also have GP Horns, which comprises saxophonist Romaro Greaves, Jomo Slusher on trombone and Kevin Lynch on trumpet is just icing on the Christmas cake,” she said.
She added that patrons can expect to have a fabulous night. “It’s a special show, lots of twists on traditional holiday favourites, a festive environment and a place to also discover some of the amazing upcoming talent here in Barbados,” she said. (GP)
