SOME PARTICIPANTS of the Ganzee 5K Walk for charity are frustrated with organisers of the event over what they are calling a gross show of disrespect after yesterday’s walk.

Veteran walker Eon Mitchell is calling for measures to be put in place so walkers can feel a sense of accomplishment as well at the end of all major events such as Run Barbados.

He was speaking at the finish line of the Run Barbados event yesterday at the Bay Street Esplanade

“We had to pay $35 to enter the race walk. Now that is not the problem. We started the walk and it turned out to be a cross-country walk behind Drill Hall Beach in a set of mud. They did not inform us of this. Having said that, we came here to the finish line and there is no finish line for the walkers; none at all,” Mitchell said. (RA)
