DANIELLE GASKIN had big plans for her 22nd birthday, which coincided with Barbados’ 50th anniversary Independence celebrations.
Spending half of the day at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) wasn’t one of them.
As fate would have it, that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday after she fell into a manhole along Belmont Road the previous day.
The deep gash which she sustained on the left foot left her seeking treatment for close to 12 hours and requiring almost 30 stitches.
The freak accident followed seven hours of non-stop rain which left many roads flooded and in some instances, impassable. (RB)
