DISGRACED SENIOR PASTOR Andre Symmonds has been dismissed from the People’s Cathedral Church for sexual misconduct.

More than a month after the scandal rocked one of the island’s biggest churches, officials informed the stunned congregation yesterday that the services of Symmonds, who was initially suspended, had been terminated.

A hush fell over the congregations at the Bishop’s Court Hill, St Michael sanctuary as Bishop Gerry Seale delivered the news of Symmonds’ removal and his one-year suspension from the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies (PAWI) Barbados District. In addition, based on Symmonds’ confession, he will also receive professional personal and marital counselling subject “to periodic assessment reports”.

Hours later in response to questions from the DAILY NATION, Paul Williams, chairman of the board of directors of the People’s Cathedral, issued a 173-word statement.
