ENTRIES in this year’s NIFCA Culinary Arts were down but the standard was high, says chief cultural officer with the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) Andrea Wells.
Wells was speaking at the official opening of the Roberts NIFCA Culinary Arts Arena And Marketplace at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Saturday.
“We were told there was a reduction in numbers but the quality was outstanding. The judges were very impressed by the quality of those persons who participated and the products they entered,” she said, as she announced the winners of the ten incentive awards.
Wells admitted that from the inception of the discipline to its incarnation today, it had “seen its ebbs and flows, sometimes in the attendance and in participation level”. (HLE)
