INDECISION AMONG SOME judges in the High Court is a contributing factor to the delays in the judicial system, former chief justice of Barbados Sir David Simmons has said.
He acknowledged, however, that there were systematic inefficiencies in the system that had caused excessive delays and backlogs in both pre- and post-Independent Barbados.
Sir David was speaking on Friday night at a public lecture held at the Supreme Court, Whitepark Road, St Michael, where he spoke frankly to tardy decision making as also a major element.
During his more than two-hour-long presentation titled Sustaining the Judicial Branch of Government for 50th after Independence, Sir David, a former attorney general under a Barbados Labour Party administration argued that a judge who could not make up his or her mind was doing a disservice to the system.
