All eyes on Whitehall

PERSISTENT RAIN THROUGHOUT the week has left soft conditions for today’s rescheduled Independence Celebrations Raceday at the Garrison Savannah.

The first day of the Barbados Turf Club’s third racing season, rescheduled from last Saturday due to persistent rainfall, will begin at 12:40 p.m.

A major factor will be the form of a rejuvenated Antonio “Swagga” Whitehall, who headlines the overseas-based jockeys with six mounts on the nine-race card. 

Having left Barbados struggling with a mere two wins under his belt for Assiniboia Downs in Winnipeg, Canada, Whitehall instantly ran hot on arrival.
