BARBADOS IS facing a national security crisis and the problems with gun-toting criminals will get worse before it improves.
Member of Parliament for The City, retired Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic, gave this assessment as gun violence claimed the lives of a further two people this past weekend.
Drawing attention to the “unprecedented situation”, the former soldier told a St James Central Barbados Labour Party branch meeting at Hoyte’s Village on Sunday night that the only reason the number of killings had not reached the state of Trinidad and Jamaica was because those involved did not know how to shoot properly.
He said it was time for a comprehensive solution, warning that if gun violence was not arrested, there would be far-reaching economic and societal implications. (WILLCOMM)
