Goalposts call it quits

A COLLAPSED goal bar forced the abandonment of the second game of a double header in the David Thompson Memorial Constituency Councils Football Classic at Combermere on Friday night.

The game, which was locked at 1-1 between St Michael West and St Michael Central looked to be heading to an enthralling second half with round of 16 qualification on the line, but it was not to be.

The match officials were highlighted to the disjointed goal post which had become unattached from the cross bar following a corner, and the game had to be halted as a result.

Despite the organisers’ best efforts, no agreement which would have settled the game on the night could have been agreed upon by all parties. (ML)
