Tougher route to Americas after revamp

BARBADOS will have to wait that much longer to get out of the Caribbean.

And they’ll have it that much tougher too.

The country’s senior male basketballers won’t be in action again until 2018, as the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships and the entire Americas’ qualification system has been revamped under the new FIBA World Cup cycle.

CBC president Glyne Clarke outlined the complex format that will see the Americas region split up into two tiers in a very drawn out qualification process for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in Beijing. (JM)
