SOME REPAIR AND replacement work has to be conducted on the main electrical room at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) to bring its power supply back to normal.Â
A plumbing problem flooded the room, cutting power to all wards and floors of the island’s main hospital block for several hours on Saturday.
Yesterday, acting chief executive officer Louise Bobb told the DAILY NATION that officials had conducted an engineering procedure to restore the power the same day, but the damage to the main electrical room was such that some replacement work would have to be undertaken.
The power outage occurred at around 11:30 a.m. and lasted for five hours.
The incident resulted in patients from the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Transplant Unit, the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, among others, being relocated. (LK)
