LEAGUE QUEENS Pan American International Insurance Warrens almost threw away their unbeaten record when the Goddard Enterprises Limited Volleyball Competition continued at the Kensington Bond on Monday night.

Cruising to a two sets advantage against knockout champions Flow Deacons, Warrens’ coach Mark Lewis opted to rest veteran setter Sophia Walcott for young Danielle Callender, a move that gave Deacons a lifeline to even the Division One contest.

Warrens eventually limped home 25-19, 25-17, 15-25, 17-25, 15-12. In the first two sets veterans Anthazia Yearwood, Talya Layne and Rhe-Ann Niles, along with young Xhane Greenidge, made all the running.

Deacons’ key player Julia Lewis seemed out of sorts, while the high jumping Shonte Seale and the other attackers hit with inconsistency as Deacons trailed. (KB)
