North East battle Central for 2-1 win

An unexpected goal gave St Michael North East a hard-fought 2-1 win over St Michael West Central in the David Thompson Memorial Classic Football Tournament on Monday night at Passage Road.

Both teams came prepared to dig deep after heavy afternoon showers made the field soggy.

However, it was West Central who showed the earliest signs of putting the conditions behind them as they searched for the opening goal. They knew how to go about getting the job done.

West Central worked the flanks incessantly and got some teasing crosses into the box that unsettled the North East, who in contrast, concentrated most of their options through the middle and inevitably found traffic jams that betrayed a flawed strategy.
