GOVERNMENT IS PREPARING to significantly boost the Barbados Revenue Authority’s (BRA) audit capabilities.
The Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) said the Freundel Stuart administration applied for $7 million in financing “towards the cost of the establishment of a Central Revenue Authority (CRA) Project”.
It added that a portion of the funds would be for the acquisition and implementation of a computerised audit management system.
The CDB said Government, acting through the BRA, was now inviting eligible firms “to submit expressions of interest for the acquisition and implementation of the computerised audit management system.
The purpose of the consultancy is to implement a comprehensive end-to-end computerised audit management system to support the business needs of its audit services division and internal audit department.”
“The Authority seeks to contract a firm to supply this software package and to configure, implement and conduct training in the use of the software package supplied.”
Consultants have to indicate their interest by November 9, and their work is expected to be implemented over three non-continuous months.
“Interested firms are asked to provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the consultancy.
“In assessment of submissions, consideration will be given to technical experience in projects of similar scope, complexity and technical specialisation; competence in English; availability of appropriate skills among staff; existing commitments and financial capability,” the CDB notice added.
“The successful applicant will be required to enter into a contract drawn up by or in a form approved by the General Counsel of the BRA or another Legal Officer approved by her. A surety for the due performance of the contract will be required.”
The BRA is Government’s central central revenue collecting agency.
It was established on April 1, 2014, subsequent to the merger of various tax collecting agencies, including the Inland Revenue and Land Tax Departments, as well as the Value Added Tax Office and the Licensing Authority. (SC)
