OPPOSITION LEADER Mia Mottley last night rubbished any claims that the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) political machinery was influencing the results of any of the party’s internal branch nominations for the next general election.
Speaking moments after management consultant Sandra Husbands easily defeated Dr Ronnie Yearwood to become the candidate for St James South, Mottley made it clear everything was being done above board when it comes to how BLP candidates were being chosen.
In response to a question about reported interference in nomination elections at the party level, Mottley was forthright.
“That is absolute nonsense. The result of tonight’s election bears that out,” she told the SUNDAY SUN minutes after Husbands’ easy 87-41 victory.
