THE CARNEGIE LIBRARY might be closed, but it hasn’t been forgotten.
Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley has again promised that the building, situated on Coleridge Street, The City, is among libraries across the island earmarked for renovations.
He made the comments at a service at St John’s Parish Church yesterday to mark the 169th anniversary of the Barbados Library Service.
“You will be aware that the Carnegie Library has been closed for some time now for renovations and while you have not seen the physical work that has to occur, we are putting in place a national task force which has prime priority for the restoration of the Carnegie Library,” he said. (RB)
