Top cop: No moving blocks

IF REVEREND DR LUCILLE BAIRD wants all the “blocks” in Barbados dismantled she should provide a blueprint on how to get it done.

Then the island’s top cop would be more than willing to listen.

That was the response from Acting Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith to Baird’s recent suggestion that authorities “dismantle every block in Barbados immediately”.

During a church service on Sunday, Baird said: “We have to watch these blocks and we can’t be reactive, we have to be proactive. If two people sit together, break it up. If three people stay together, break it up before it becomes a colossal giant that we can’t kill. Because they sit there and it becomes a place for growing crime and criminals.”

However, in an interview with the WEEKEND NATION, Griffith said he had no clue how police would go about such an operation. (RB)
