THE BARBADOS WORKERS’ Union (BWU) is concerned about the plight of the temporary worker.
General secretary Toni Moore believes that the union has dropped the ball in its representation of those workers in some areas.
“Temporary employment is something that has been staring us in the face, but yet it seems that in recent times and because of the inputs we had from our conference and even with our interactions with our young people, that we as an organisation realised that in many respects we’ve been dropping the ball and letting down some of the very vulnerable workers that we say we need to speak for,” she said.
Moore was addressing the opening ceremony of the BWU’s Regional Youth Seminar at the BWU’s Labour College at Mangrove, St Philip, on Monday. (TSG)
