NOVEMBER will never be the same again for the sporting community in Barbados.

That’s because 22 national federations have signed on to the 50th Anniversary Independence BOA Games which will feature a sports festival across the island for three weeks from November 16 to December 11.

The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA), the lead agency for the historic event, has been charged with responsibility for the quality, co-ordination, marketing and promotion of the Games, while each national federation has agreed to take responsibility for their particular sports.

Three international championships will be held in boxing, judo and rugby sevens; seven national championships will be staged in netball, fencing, badminton, archery, swimming, table tennis and surfing, while major national competitions are scheduled for golf, cycling and weightlifting. (MK)
