PSVs Pull Up

COMMUTERS ACROSS BARBADOS got a taste yesterday of what could happen if the almost 600 minibuses and route taxis withdraw their services.

Privately-owned public service vehicle (PSV) operators flexed their muscle in an attempt to force the Ministry of Transport and Works  to address their concerns.

The owners removed their vehicles from the streets, leaving many commuters stranded or relying mainly on the state-owned Transport Board.

Their bone of contention remained the call for duty-free concessions on the purchase of new buses by those in the sector, as well as accessing the lucrative Baxters Road route on the way out of Bridgetown to most of the northern routes. (GE)
